Sipapa, wife further remanded until December

Makindye Magistrate’s Court judge, Esther Adikini has further remanded City socialite Charles Olimu alias Sipapa and his wife, Shamirah Nakiyemba to Luzira prison until December 12, 2022.

This is after prosecution led by Hope Lukundo informed the court that investigations into the matter are still ongoing and asked for another date to enable police complete their inquiries.

Prosecution alleges Olim, his wife and others still at large on the night of August 29, 2022, at Bunga-Kawuka, Makindye division in Kampala district robbed Jacob Mul Arok of $429,000.

On the same date, the duo also allegedly robbed the Sudanese national of a silver blue iphone valued at $3,200 (about sh12.2m) and a Samsung flat screen television set of 75-inches valued at $4,000 (sh15.3m), among others.

The twosome according to the prosecution immediately before and after the robbery used a substance on Arok, which rendered him unconscious.

The pair is also accused of robbing Mary Ateng, Abig Yar and James Manyok of two Apple laptops, a DELL laptop and gold jewellery among others.

Aggravated robbery is contrary to section 285 of the Penal Code Act and elicits a maximum sentence of death on conviction.
