Masaza Cup 2021: Musiima enthused after reaching a consecutive final

Buwekula FC forward, Isaac Musiima says he is feeling ‘proud and delighted’ after making it to the second consecutive final of the prestigious Masaza Cup after achieving the same mark last year with Gomba which clinched the triumph past Buddu.

The forward made the remarks shortly after his side sealed a 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory against Mawokota after the two sides played to a one-all draw in normal time.

Musiima played a crucial role to see that Buwekula fly to the final game of the tournament, the forward converted from the spot to equalize Mawokota before he scored the winning penalty.

“I feel so proud and delighted for making it to the second consecutive final of the Masaza (Cup),” Musiima told Gateway News in an interview.

“It has been an honour playing under coach Frank (Mulindwa) because he has organised us to play simple and modern football that gives us the liberty to capitalise on our natural talent.”

Musiima is also the top scorer of the ongoing competition. He described the achievement as that confirms he has been listening and observing the coach’s guidelines.

“Coach Frank has always believed in me which has given me a lot of confidence. I have managed to reach the finals with six goals already only because I always follow his instructions.”

“As an attacking midfielder, my role is to create chances but scoring goals boasts my game and helps my team to win games. That’s why I try to convert each chance that comes my way.”

Just like any other tournament, the midfielder has found several challenges though he was quick to underline that most of those have been due to a lack of funds.

“Amidst the success achieved, we have faced financial challenges such as low pay and failure of the management to give us the what they promised as per the contract.”

“However the coach has kept us going and all our minds are directed on the final because we want to win and be confirmed as champions of Buganda,” he concluded.

The management and organising committee is set to announce the date of the final and the venue where it will be held.
