The festive season is a period of sharing joy and love as the world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, it’s in the same spirit that Soccer Stars Football Academy gave back to the community.
On December 23, 2021, Soccer Stars held a successful community outreach and supported vulnerable families as they traversed the zones of Takabuwuki, Mulago.
While speaking to the press, Soccer Stars director, Isaac Ogong highlighted that the event is held every December and is meant to help the less privileged.
“This is an annual event that happens every December and we focus on helping vulnerable families as we spread the gospel of soccer,” Ogong revealed.
“We always go out and share the little we have in support to these less privileged people and it helps to create a good relationship between our academy and the community.”
“It also helps to create a helping heart and mind in our players because we are nurturing them to become valuable citizens in our country that is full of range and chaos.”
“We managed to reach out to 15 families and supplied them foodstuffs such as rice, posho, floor, sugar, and other necessities such as soap and clothes.”
According to Ogong, football is beyond playing soccer on the field of play but it is also used to change the image and shape the attitude of society.
“We believe in all kinds of kindness as the best form of humanity that is why we have to carry out such community drives to see that football creates a tagible impact to the communities at large.”
“As management, we have to show the community that the academy is part of them and shade a good picture that footballers are responsible people unlike seeing us as unruly people,” he concluded.
Soccer Stars Academy is located in Kisenyi (II) and has managed to produce players such as Henry Kiwanuka (Bright Stars), Ali Ssentongo, George Oketch, Ramos Ibrahim among others.
Soccer Stars Football Academy is one of the members of Uganda Youth Football Associations an umbrella that governs all academies in the country on behalf of FUFA.
