SUPL: Gaddafi, Onduparaka lock horns in a four-goal thriller

Gaddafi were held by Onduparaka in a 2-2 draw in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the Gaddafi Arena, Jinja on Tuesday evening.

This became the sixth draw for the caterpillars while its the fifth for the Soldier Boyz who lost the lead in the dying minutes of the game.

The visitors needed only eleven minutes to take the lead through their skipper Shaban Mohammed who made it five goals in the last six games played.

At half an our mark the game was brought back to square on as the hosts levelled matters through Buchochera Karenzi off Hassan Musana’s good freekick.

In the 31st minute, James Jareiko handled the ball in the box and Gaddafi were awarded a penalty, Musana converted from the spot to give the hosts the lead.

On top of the hour, Rashid Yakin snap shot to the goal but his effort was blocked by teammate Gabriel Matata from the area.

Minutes later, Bithum’ effort hit the framework to deny the hosts from extending the lead in the second stanza.

With seven minutes to end of normal time, Onduparaka were awarded a penalty after a handball and substitute Nathan Oloro nicely sloted it home to square the game.

In the added minutes Gaddafi were awarded the second penalty which was emphatically saved by Mathias Muwanga to save a point for his side that has travelled all the way from Arua.

The result takes newbies Gaddafi to 14 points from 12 games while Onduparaka are a position lower at 12 points on the 16-team log.

Gaddafi is set to play Mbarara City next at Kakyeka Stadium on Tuesday 28, December while Oduparaka will host KCCA at Green Light Stadium on Wednesday.
