Saza sides Mawokota and Buleemezi advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing 2021 Buganda Masaza tournament at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Tuesday.
In the third quarterfinals game, Mawokota limb-frogged Kyaggwe in a penalty shot that ended 3-2 after sharing spoils in a 2-2 draw at the normal duration.
The first stanza broke off when Kyaggwe was in the driving seat through Gerald Ogwetti’s penalty before Isaac Ofoyrwoth leveled it, two minutes into the second stanza.
First minutes past the hour mark, Tonny Kiberu awarded Mawokota a lead that lasted for only four minutes before Simon Tabu Oryem who equalized for Kyaggwe.
It ended 2-2 at the normal time. during the penalty kicks, Mawokota won it 3-2 to storm the semifinals of the prestigious tournament.
While in the second encounter, Buleemezi bounced from a goal down to win Busiro 2-1 in the final quarterfinals game.
Experienced goal poacher Ibrahim Kasenge placed last year’s third-placed team in the temporary lead after four minutes into the game.
In the 18th minute, Edward Disty Mibiru limped off the field of play for Reagan Kasumba in Busiro’s first change.
As the first half was looming, Hakiramu Muzanyi equalized for Bulemeezi and regain hopes in the end-to-end encounter.
The hero of the day was John Ben Nakibinge who placed the ball in the back of the net to send Bulemeezi in the last four of this year’s tournament.
In the semifinals that will be played on Thursday 23, December, Mawokota will play Buwekula while Buddu will face off Bulemeezi.
