Kadaga urges jinja business community to embrace the ‘Jinja Business Summit.

Minister for East African community Affairs and the first Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, has urged business people and investors in Jinja Sub-region to embrace Jinja Business and Investment Summit if they are to revamp Businesses that were greatly hit by covid 19 Pandemic.

Jinja Business and Investment Summit will take place at Civil Service College Jinja between 11th-12th of November, 2022. The summit is being organized by Jinja City Authorities together with African Center for Economic Dialogue.

The minister said that this is an exciting investment opportunity for new businesses to sprout and diversify within the two year old city.

The Summit seeks to find solutions to questions that need to be addressed so as bolster pathways for sustainable, inclusive and resilient ecosystems in cities, through public-private collaboration.

The summit is a multi-stakeholder engagement platform to further mobilize and engage both public and private sectors – locally and internationally,”said Julius Nsubuga Director Africa Center for Economic Dialogue

The Annual Jinja Business and Investment Summit will convene both the public and private sectors at local and international levels to help guide and shape growth and development of Jinja City.

According to Hon. Kadaaga, the summit has come in timely to restore the lost glory of investors and business people in Jinja More so, those that were severely hit by the hard trails of COVID-19 .
We urge the general public to come and showcase as well as exchange ideas on how to revamp business. The summit is slated for November and it will take place at civil service College Jinja,” added Rtn . Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaaga.

Jinja was founded way back in 1901 by the British Settlers, it’s the second largest economic center with numerous Factories and also one of the biggest tourism Hubs in Africa. It is among the municipalities that were elevated to city status in 2020 by the government of Uganda with a population estimated at 300,000 residents and over 500,000 workers.

However, a population density of such magnitude comes with numerous challenges and just like else where, Businesses in jinja were severely hit by effects of COVID-19, a pandemicthat ravaged the world.

This prompted Africa Center for Economic Dialogue in conjunction with Jinja City and Uganda National Chamber of Commerce & Industry to establish the annual ‘JINJA BUSINESS & INVESTMENT SUMMIT’.
