USSSA Games 2022: Debutants St.Andrew Face Kitende in Final

First-time comers, St. Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School registered a golden 2-0 victory against nine-man Buddo SS at Barifa Stadium.

While in the opening game, Kitende beat arch rivals Kibuli SS 3-1 in a game that witnessed a clear officiating error.

The two sides where meeting for the 10th time among which Kitende has won eight times while Kibuli has picked two victories.

Dominic Ayella capitalised on Kitende custodian, Jack Komakech’s howler to place Kibuli SS ahead.

Kibuli’s victory lasted for a short while after Kitende were awarded a clear dubious penalty after Charles Lwanga fell in he area.

Defender, Rogers Torach stepped up to tak the challenge an calmly converted from the spot to level matters.

As Kibuli’s players were resurrecting from the shock, Enock Luyima’s low cross was directed home by Dawson Mafumu into his own net.

The margin rose higher after Najib Yiga’s effort off the goal post hit Shafic Kibirige’s thigh into his own net to mark the second own goal.

It was quite a cagey affair as non of the sides impressed in the second stanza and at fulltime, Kitende took the first spot of the final game.

In the second game, Buddo suffered a 0-2 loss in a high contested game.

As first half came to an end, hard tackling Benson Ogwang was given matching orders after receiving the second yellow card.

In the 66th minute, the ball clipped off Buddo defender Agaku Vincent’s hand and the referee awarded St. Andrew Kaggwa a penalty.

Oscar “Senke” Mawa did no mistake from the spot as he calmly placed the ball home to shake the net.

At the death of the game, Mawa scored a belter that kissed the crossbar and entered the goal to send the crowds on their feet.

Moments later, Buddo SS captain Ronald “Media” Innocent was sent off after confronting the referee.

There were ugly scenes after as the players of Buddo where rioting. It needed the Police and other armed forces to clear the pitch.
