Pictorial: UWA engages Wildlife Club Student Leaders

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) through the UWEC CA in collaboration with the Wildlife Clubs of Uganda (WCU) has carried out a Wildlife clubs student leaders capacity building workshop aimed at turning knowledge into conservation impact, “from awareness to action.”

The workshop was held at Comfort Hotel in Katabi town council, with participants from over five schools, including Kiira College Butiki, MerryLand Schools Entebbe, and Entebbe Comprehensive, among others.

According to the UWEC’s Outreach Officer, Phillip Katabulwa, UWEC will continue to engage student wildlife conservation clubs through school outreach programs, in-school conservation education, and competitive events, aiming to foster the next generation of conservationists.

Key 2026 initiatives include partnering with Wildlife Clubs of Uganda to hold national schools’ conservation competitions, featuring quizzes, art, and poetry on biodiversity.

The training attracted various conservationists, including the Katabi town council chairperson, Ronald Kalema, who handled a session on leadership and responsibility in environmental stewardship, among other facilitators from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

The learners were also reminded of the dangers of littering and also taught about the benefits of conserving the environment.
