Police in Kanungu district have confirmed a 3-year-old child died in a mudslide after their house was carried away due to heavy rains and died instantly.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate identified the deceased as Wilson Amanyire a 3-years-old a pupil at Mama Barbra Nursery school at Kajiyangoma Church and son of Atuhire Shilah and Byaruhanga Edson both residents of Kikondera village in Bushura Parish in Kirima sub county.
Maate told journalists that the incident occurred on Tuesday 15th November 2022 evening and the others affected by floods include Ntegyerize Ruth and Sanyu Edson both resident of the same area and whose banana plantations were destroyed.
Maate said that the scene was visited by the Police and statements obtained from eyewitness and the body retrieved and handed over to relatives for burial and the incident was registered at Kanungu District Central Police Station under SD 15/16/11/2022.
