Anwaru Mustapha Ntege scored the only goal to spur Busoga United as the registered a 1-0 victory against SC Villa in the Star Times Uganda Premier League at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Thursday.
Anthony Mayanja nearly placed Busoga in the lead with a long delivery from far and SC Vila’s custodian Meddie Kibirige climbed to punch it home for a corner kick.
Peter Onzima sent a long cross to meet Laban Tibita who controlled it but was later fouled by Nicholas Kabonge a few steps away from the area.
In the 38th minute, Mayanja and Paul Ssekulima combined in counter-attack but the last touch from Busoga’s captain was poor hence losing possession.
Six minutes later, SC Villa wasted a clear chance after Travis Mutyaba failed to give the ball the needed power from close range.
Shake Ssozi laid an inch perfect cross and Anwaru Mustapha Ntege beautifully headed it home to give the away side a well-deserved lead.
SC Villa replied by making a double change introducing Benson Muhindo and Sadam Juma to add pace in the attack.
The three points lift Busoga United into the 11th position with 20 points, two adrift SC Villa with sits 12 on the 16-teamed log.
In the next fixture, Busoga United will host Police FC at Kakindu Stadium on Friday while Villa will travel to Lugogo MTN Omondi Stadium on Saturday March 12.
