Express FC registered a 2-2 stalemate against KCCA FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Betway Muteesa II Stadium on Thursday.
KCCA started on the front foot with roving leftback Herbert Achai causing havoc on the left flank but Murushid Juuko stood strong.
In the 19th minute, forward Martin Kizza gave Express the first-half lead off a sweat powerful freekick into the back of the net.
With two minutes to play in the first stanza, Enock Walusimbi fouled Julius Poloto in the dangerous area.
Poloto stood up and converted from the spot sending Express FC’s shot-stopper Otim on the wrong side to level matters.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Hassan Jurua released Wafula on the right flank.
He crossed the ball into the area and Sadat Anaku brilliantly got the ball in the goal to give the Kasasiro Boy the lead after huge spells of possession.
Express hardly gave up as they kept pushing to try and look for a leveller in a tightly contested game.
In the 75th minute, second half substitute Joseph Akadwanaho flicked Walusimbi’s long ball head above KCCA’s custodian Derrick Ochan to square the game once again..
Erick Kambale nearly placed the hosts in the driving seat but his powerful effort rattled off the left goalpost.
The point keeps KCCA in the second position with 40 points while Express FC are sixth on the log with 30 points on the 16-teamed log.
