Stanbic Uganda Cup: Vipers through to round of 16, URA out

Vipers SC have continued their pursuit of defending the Stanbic Uganda Cup title by progressing to the round of 16.

The Venoms edged Kalango United 3-1 in the game played on Saturday evening.

Milton Karisa, Najib Yiga and Yunus Sentamu scored for Vipers while Kalango United’s only goal was scored by Bosco Okot.

Karisa opened scoring in the 10th minute of the game following a beautiful delivery from Disan Galiwango on the left.

Yiga then doubled Vipers’s lead in the 39th minute with a left shot following beautiful assist from goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora.

Two minutes into the second half, Okot halved the scores by pulling one back for Kalango United.

Sentamu then sealed it for Vipers with a third goal following awesome work from Karisa to send Vipers into round of 16 of the competition.

Elsewhere, Mbarara City knocked URA FC out of the competition by winning 11-10 on penalties following a one-all stalemate in normal time.

Meanwhile, Booma FC were 1-0 winners against Kajjansi United to make it to the next round.
