Entebbe Territorial Police have arrested two suspects including a stepfather to aid investigations into the gruesome murder of a three-year-old child.
Three-year old Simon Onyait, a resident of Mawugulu village, Katabi Town Council in Wakiso District was on Wednesday found dead with two stab wounds in an unfinished building.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson, Luke Oweyesigire confirmed that two suspects, Francis Onyango, the stepfather and a one Kasawuli have been arrested in connection with the murder as investigations continue.
Owoyesigire said the deceased’s mother, Anna Kevin Akello left Onyait (now late) in the care of her stepfather while she left for work on Wednesday morning but when she returned from work at 6pm the child was missing.
After a search in around their home fell flat, she was joined by her neighbors to search for the child but we’re shocked to find him lying lifeless in an unfinished building occupied by Kasawuli at around 7pm.
“The body of the deceased child was found with two stab wounds and when a search was made, the Police recovered Kasawuli’s clothes with blood stains and were exhibited and he too arrested together with the deceased’s stepfather to help in the ongoing investigations,” Owoyesigire said.
The body was conveyed to City Mortuary, Mulago for autopsy to ascertain the the cause of death. The motive of the murder is yet to be established.
