UPL: Express Hold Bright Stars as Vipers edge Arua Hill

Express picked a vital point on the road after sharing spoils with Bright Stars in a 1-1 stalemate at Kavumba Recreational Grounds today.

Allan Kayiwa and Ibrahim Kasinde scored for either side as the two sides walked home with a point apiece.

The hosts started with the right rhythm showing a clear intention that they were a team with a target to gather maximum results.

In the 18th minute, Kasinde gave the home side a lead thanks to the continuous attacks that were being made onto Express’ goal.

Bright Stars skipper Nelson Senkatuka nearly extended the lead but the Express custodian was alert to palm away the effort.

After recess, it was a change of guard as the Red Eagles took charge of the game.

Nine minutes into the second half, Bright Stars defender Gideon Etou brought down Enock Ssebagala in the box and Express were awarded a penalty.

Kayiwa perfectly responded to the task after converting from the spot to pick his 10th goal.

The point keeps Express ninth with 29 points while Bright Stars are 10th with a point less after 22 games.

In West Nile Abubaker Lawal’s early goal helped Vipers SC to edge Arua Hill at Barifa Stadium as the defending champions keep the hopes of the title defence alive.
