Vipers SC have continued to consolidate their top spot in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League following a 2-0 victory against Mbarara City on Tuesday evening.
Najib Yiga and Milton Karisa were on the scoresheet for the Venoms in the game played at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
Bobosi Byaruhanga unleasheD a long range strike from just outside the box in the 30th minute, but his shot was dragged wide of the left post.
Najib Yiga found the back of the net in the 45th minute with a header beating goalkeeper Muhammad Ssekebba and dropped it into the back of the net.
Karisa made it 2-0 for Vipers after making a beautiful run, beat his markers and slid the ball past goalkeeper Muhammad Ssekebba in the 70th minute of the game.
In the 78th minute, Vipers had a chance to make it 3-0 with a lovely cut back from Paul Mucureezi followed by a shot but it was just slightly over the bar.
The result means that Vipers have moved to 52 points on the top of the table with 52 points from 22 games while Mbarara City remained 15th on the table with 19 points.
