UPDF ended their 13-game winless run after beating Gaddafi 3-1 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Tuesday.
UPDF had last won 2-1 against Bright Stars on December 5, 2021, which further affirms today’s win is the first since the year began.
Ezekiel Katende gave UPDF the lead after playing ten minutes having gotten the ball past youthful custodian Abdul Maganda into the back of the net.
Seif Bate had a glorious chance having won possession inside the box but his resultant effort kissed the woodwork hence wasting a clear blessing to square the result.
Moments later, Alex Kitata rose highest to meet Naziru Serwadda’s cross but the effort parried off the woodwork.
Six minutes to the end of the first stanza, Umaru Kyeyune chipped the ball to meet Brian Kalumba who calmly placed the ball at the far post to level matters.
In the 53rd minute, Frank Yiga restored the visitors who showed more intent and hunger to take home maximum points.
Five minutes later, UPDF added salt to Gaddafi’s wounds after Danito Okello extended the lead with a long-range fine shot.
The Soldiers Boyz made changes introducing Faisal Muwawu, Isaac Isinde and Steven Munguchi for Willis Otongo, Kitata and Kyeyune.
