SC Villa waited till the last minute for Benson Muhindo to salvage for them a point against a motivated KCCA side in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Saturday evening.

Rogers Mato nodded home the visitors before second-half substitute Benson Muhindo leveled matters from the spot in the dying minutes of the thrilling game.

Sadam Masereka found a glorious chance to place Villa in the lead just five minutes into the game after Travis Mutyaba laid to him a calm low pass in the area but defender Denis Iguma closed him tightly.

Thirteen minutes later, Hassan Jurua floated in the air to connect with Brian Majwega’s corner kick but the defender’s header went above the crossbar inches.

Five minutes to half an hour mark, KCCA found their closest chance Mato’s header rattled off the woodwork after beating SC Villa’s custodian Martin Senkooto.

On the return of the second stanza, SC Villa nearly took the lead through Isaac Ogwang’s counter-attack but KCCA defender John Revita brought him down just a few steps past the centerline.

KCCA took the lead through pacy winger Mato who nodded home Majwega’s corner kick to give the Kasasiro boys a well-deserved lead.

Ten minutes later Morley Byekwaso made the first change that saw Bukenya and Samuel Ssenyonjo come on for Charles Lwanga and Davis Kasirye before Andrew Kawoya replaced Mato.

Moments later, Petros Koukouras brought on Muhindo who caused a lot of chaos to KCCA defense in the last five minutes of the game.

With all the pace and power Muhindo received Mutyaba’s chilly ball and turned off defender Revita into the box before he was brought down by Majwega to award Villa a penalty.

Muhindo stepped up to take the challenge and set Ochan the wrong way as the ball rolled into the back of the net at the inside of the right post.

The result keeps KCCA at the top of the log however the difference between them and Vipers SC reduces from six to four with the latter having a game in hand.

On the other hand, SC Villa sits at the 12th position on the log with ten points from 10 games. Koukouras’ changes will be hosted by Busoga United at Njeru on Wednesday, December 23.

While KCCA hosts reigning league champions Express FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Wednesday.
