Kawawa scored a first half hattrick as Arua Hill registered a 4-2 victory against Wakiso Giants in the Star Times Uganda Premier League at Barifa Stadium, Arua on Wednesday.
Four minutes into the game, Rashid Kawawa headed home Samuel Sekamatte’s delivery to place the Kongolo in the driving place.
Three minutes later, Alfred Leku rushed onto a long dropping ball, he had the first touch before Wakiso Giants custodian Emukule and placed the ball into the back of the net.
Moments later, Kawawa cut from the left flank into the area before he pulled off a shot that beat Emukule from the near post.
In the 38 minute, agile forward Kawawa stretched to tap home Gadafi Wahab’s freekick past Grant Matsiko to add salt in Wakiso Giants’ wounds.
David Ndihabwe nearly extended the lead through a venomous shot off a rebound but Emukule struggled to collect the ball.
After the recess, Wakiso Giants introduced Titus Sematimba and Erick Kimbowa for Lawrence Bukenya and Pius Kaggwa.
In the 64th minute, Grant Matsiko laid a cross and Sematimba powerfully headed it past Arua Hill’s shot stopper Erick Kibowa to give the visitors a consolation.
With three minutes to play, forward Sam Senyonjo reduced the visitors’ debt after placing the ball in the net.
Alex Gitta’s charges looked a better side in the second stanza but it was late for them to fully bounce back into the game that they failed to handle in the early minutes.
The result leaves Arua Hill in the fifth position with 32 points while the Purple Sharks sit seventh with 27 points from 19 games played.
