Police FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru noted that a point his side picked against KCCA FC is worth celebrating.
The Cops played to a one-all stalemate against KCCA FC on Tuesday evening at MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
The Visitors had a dream start when Ashraf Mugume scored from a beautifully taken freekick to lead in the sixth minute.
But the lead was short lived when goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan blundered at the other end four minutes later.
The Veteran goalkeeper poorly cleared and Usama Arafat also made it worse when he fumbled with the ball to allow Juma Balinya break free.
Usama then brought down Balinya in the area for the referee to point to the spot, and the former KCCA FC attacker converted from the spot.
According to Mubiru, a point picked on Tuesday evening is worth celebrating by Police FC.
“We thank God for the point, we celebrated because our aim is to avoid relegation, if we get a point then that’s good enough,” Mubiru said after the game.
At least now we are level on points with UPDF FC so we can start fighting from there.
However, Mubiru wasn’t contented by his side’s performance on the day though he was happy with the result.
“Performance-wise, not the best performance we wanted but again we’ve learnt some lessons from the game because we played the bigger part of second half under some reasonable pressure but we managed to hold on until the end of the game and that was the best moment for me.”
“We wanted a win, we lost two points but we are happy with a point earned,” he added.
The result left KCCA FC on 42 points, one below leaders Vipers who host Busoga United on Wednesday while Police FC is now ninth with 23 points after 21 games so far.
