Pilsner injects a billion Shillings into the Uganda Premier League

Uganda Breweries Limited through Pilsner Lager has announced an injection of one billion UGX as sponsorship for the next three Uganda Premier League campaigns (2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24).

Pilsner is not a new name in Uganda’s football fraternity since their introduction in 2018 with the Pilsner (Man of the Match, Player of the Month and Coach of the Month) accolades.

“We know that football is one of the things that Ugandans love because it cuts across barriers and brings us together as a nation,” Pilsner Lager Brand Manager noted in the ceremony at Kati Kati restaurant.

“As Pilsner Lager, we have been supporting and will continue to support local football to make it more rewarding and exciting for fans,”

“So in addition of the Pilsner Man of the Match and Monthly accolades to the best player and coach, we shall also be rewarding the monthly best fan through Pilsner Predict and Win Fans Challenge,”

“Fans who correctly predict the outcome of games will instantly share 200,000 UGX on each match day and at the end of the month we shall also be rewarding the Pilsner Fan of the Month who has made the most number of correct predictions with UGX 500,000,”

“At the end of the season, the top 16 fans with the most number of correct predictions will share cash prizes totalling UGX 20,000,000.” Kihumuro disclosed.

The 1 billion UGX sponsorship package will see over 650m go to the Uganda Premier League with the rest going towards consumer activations and promotion of the local game to make it exciting.

Uganda Premier League executive board Chairman, Arinaitwe Rugyendo couldn’t hide his excitement for the sponsorship renewal noting it will help in the strengthing of the local game.

“First I would like to thank Pilsner Lager for partnering with us to grow the local game over the last three years and for committing to this partnership for another three years,” He said.

“As a league, we have benefitted greatly from the partnership that has seen the best players and coaches rewarded for their efforts at the end of every game and month,”

“We are excited that we shall now also be rewarding fans and believe that this will help to make the local league even more exciting and attract even more fans to follow local football,” Rugyendo disclosed.
