EC releases roadmap for Soroti East by-election

The Electoral Commission (EC) has released the official roadmap for the Soroti City East Constituency by-election.

Court last month May nullified the victory of Forum for Democratic Change’s Moses Okia Attan on grounds that it was illegal for the EC to reconstitute the boundaries of Soroti City East Constituency by removing the parishes of Aloet and Opilyai and placing them under Soroti City West Constituency.

The by-election program will run from Friday 10th June 2022 with an update of the National Voters’ register and voting will be on the 28th of July 2022.

Nomination of contestants is set for 18th to 19th June. FDC is expected to front Moses Okia Attan, while NRM will rally behind Jimmy Echemu.

Other contestants for the race include National Unity Platform’s Arnold Emachu and Uganda People’s Congress’ James Herbert Elaju.
