Royal Giants High School have turned their focus to CECAFA after clinching the inaugural championship in Uganda.
The Mityana-based side beat Dynamic SS 2-0, Thomas Ogema’s brace was enough for Royal Giants to beat Dynamic before lifting the trophy on Tuesday at Njeru.
“The team has qualified to represent the country for CECAFA and we shall do all it takes to make everyone proud,” said Royal Giants head coach Frank Mulindwa in reflection on lifting the trophy.
“It is a special honour to be representing the country out of the ten schools that participated. So we going back to prepare so that we match the required level at CECAFA which demands more than Uganda,” he added.
Royal Giants managed six victories in six games played in the tournament. They scored 17 goals in total and conceded only three goals.
“Some of the things that helped us clinch this trophy is early organisation that happened behind the curtains.”
“We have always had a program of development at Royal Giants and it’s been so helpful. It hardly gave us any hardship to put up a team because it was already in place,” the soft-speaking gaffer concluded.
The CAF African Schools Championship, CECAFA edition will held in Uganda at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru in December 2022.
The champions will later tussle with other zonal victors on the continental level in March 2023.
