Wakiso – A man’s body was retrieved from Lake Victoria along the Entebbe shoreline on Monday morning.
Locals identified the man as Darausi Mugisha, 29, a resident of Katabi Town Council in Wakiso District.
According to eyewitnesses, on boxing day, Mugisha went swimming leaving his clothes and belongings in the care of a child.
Hours later, he would not return and was presumed to have drowned in the lake. Residents were notified, and a search was conducted last night, and his body was recovered at about 10 am on Monday.
Swaddling the body in black polythene, residents took Mugisha to his home in Kabale Ward, Katabi town council from where he’ll be taken for burial.
Rashid Drama, a senior resident in the area said, local authorities tried a lot to regulate the huge number of people who wanted to swim along that shoreline lest there could have been many death incidences during the Christmas season.
