Beaches barred to operate ahead of new Year celebrations

Meeting beach and bar owners in Entebbe, police bosses advised against operating the places for revelers during the new year celebrations. SP Godfrey Achiria, the Kampala metropolitan Regional Police Commander (RPC) said, the move aims at implementing the standing presidential directive.

“It also aims at preventing all the likely accidents and drowning incidences which have often happened in the past,” noted SP Achiria while addressing the media after the security closed door meeting which was held on Thursday at Entebbe municipal council.

The meeting had been organised by Nooh Njuki, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) in charge of Entebbe. Njuki warned the managers and owners who are intending to display fireworks. “Even churches shall not be allowed to conduct services beyond 6pm,” warned Njuki.

As president Museveni is slated to address the country on December 31, several stakeholders have appealed for full re-opening of the economy following several months of lock-down.
