AWCON 2022: Lutalo reveals final squad for Morocco

The crested cranes head coach George Lutalo has announced his final squad to travel to Morocco for the TotalEnergies Women African Cup of Nations that will start on 2nd July in Morocco.

During a press briefing held Tuesday morning at FUFA complex in Mengo, Lutalo revealed a number of 26 players which contains three goalkeepers,seven defenders,six midfielders and ten forwards.

Lutalo said that the team has been having smooth preparations since last year where they played COSAFA and CECAFA where they emerged champions .

“We had smooth preparations since last year. We played COSAFA and recently CECAFA where the team emerged Champions. I believe these tournaments have helped us to get the Skelton of the team and I’m confident the final squad named will help us attain the set targets.” he said.

Lutalo has also confirmed that Katkan Tyovaen Palloillija FC custodian Ruth Aturo will captain the Crested Cranes and she will be assisted by UCU Lady Cardinals’ Hasifah Nassuna, Daisy Nakaziro and Fauzia Najjemba.

The crested cranes are slated to travel to Morocco on Wednesday Morning (4 AM) where they will have a ten-day training camp in Marrakesh.

The Crested cranes are pitted in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Burkina Faso and Senegal.
