UCAA to provide prayer space for believers at Entebbe Airport

The Entebbe International Airport’s new terminal building which will be opened to the public later this year has prayer space for Muslims and other denominations.

This was revealed by Fred Bamwesigye the Director General of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) during the Iftar dinner held on Wednesday 3rd April at UCAA Head office in Entebbe municipality.

Bamwesigye emphasized the greatness of the Ramadan period, togetherness and the values of sharing which was the basis for the UCAA management, to host the Iftar dinner, first of its kind and also promised to make it a routine for years to come.

“While this was made for Muslims, even non-Muslims took part in the sharing and they are all happy which fosters unity. So, we are going to continue with this practice in subsequent years during the Ramadan period,” Bamwesigye added.

Hon. Rukia Nakadama, the third deputy Prime Minister who was the Chief Guest urged Muslims and non-Muslims to continue recognising the Muslim fraternity that they work with, saying, in most cases they are the minority.

“This UCAA event has enabled people to share with each other and to learn more about another religion for those who are not of that religion,” she said.

The third deputy Prime Minister also praised UCAA for the great developments that are being undertaken at the Entebbe International Airport including the good-looking new terminal that many Ugandans are proud of.

More than 200 people both Muslims and non-Muslims attended the Iftar dinner including the second Deputy Mufti Sheik Muhammad Waiswa.
