URA FC and Wakiso Giants FC played to a one-all draw in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the Arena of Visions, Ndejje on Tuesday, December 28.

Simon Namwajja scored a beauty in the first half to put the visitors ahead before Cromwell Rwothomio squared the score nineteen minutes into the second stanza.

Both sides started on the forefoot with continuous attacks in search of early goals but both defensive lines stood up to the challenge to keep the score intact.

Seven minutes into the game, URA captain Shafik Kagimu laid a good cross in the area to Cromwel Rwothomio who rose highest but his powerful header went above the frame by inches.

In the 22nd minute, Wakiso Giants found the closest chance to take the lead through Tom Masiko whose backward header went off the crossbar before Najib Fesali volleyed it away.

In the second minute of the added time onto the first stanza, roving left-back Simon Namwajja finished his beautiful individual effort with a superb strike from inside the box after beating Ashraf Mandela.

URA custodian Nafian Alionzi fully stretched in the attempt to stop the scorching shot but he was an inch short as the ball passed him to roll in the back of the net.

The towering midfielder, Joshua Lubwama nearly extended the visitor’s lead through a free-kick that was later fumbled by Alionzi before Masiko crossed it out for a throw-in.

On the return of the second half, Hassan Wasswa was forced off the field of play due to an injury before he was replaced by Alex Komakech.

Moments later URA made a double change for Ibrahim Dada and Joakim Ojera to replace Steven Mukwala and Viane Ssekajugo

Four minutes past the top of an hour, Rwothomio leveled matters from a bouncing header off Kagimu’s well executed corner kick to restore sanity for the Tax Collectors.

In the 77th minute, Sseruyide delivered a curling freekick in the area to meet Cromwell who was the busiest man of the evening but his effort went wide.

The result keeps Wakiso Giants in the sixth position with 21 points from 13 games while URA are a position less with 18 points after 11 games played in the ongoing campaign.
