SUPL: KCCA Re-ignite Title Hopes After Win Against UPDF

KCCA registered a 3-0 emphatic victory against UPDF in the Startimes Uganda Premier League in a game played at Bombo Baracks grounds on Tuesday.

Sadat Anaku, Donato Okello’s own goal and Brian Aheebwa were enough to sail the tax collectors calmly through the barracks.

KCCA’s maiden chance of the game came in the seventh minute as Ashraf Mugume’s freekick was blocked and later the rebound flew wide.

Nine minutes later, Sadat Happy Anaku headed home steps away from the goal line off Denis Iguma’s deliverance within the area.

At half an hour, Herbert Achai laid an inch-perfect cross into the box to meet Charles Lwanga who tapped it further but UPDF custodian Yusuf Wasswa rushed off his line to deny Anaku.

As the first half was ending, KCCA defender fouled Donato Okello in the area hence awarding UPDF a penalty.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe stepped to take the challenge but his effort from the spot was palmed away by Benjamin Ochan.

This was the third penalty kick to be missed by UPDF’s talisman.

In the second half UPDF returned a hungry side searching for a leveller but KCCA was not ready to give them any room of a kind.

Five minutes past the top of the hour, KCCA extended their lead after Okello scored in his net.

Anaku beat a forest of feet at the edge of the box before he released the roving Brian Majwega who laid a dangerous dummy that left the egg on Okello’s face.

In the 81st minute, second half substitute Brian Aheebwa tapped home to make it three up after being assisted but Anaku.

The result took KCCA in the second position at 45 points with two games in hand while UPDF are ninth with only 27 points after 24 games.

In the next fixture, KCCA will host Arua Hill SC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Monday April 11 while UPDF will be hosted by Busoga United on Tuesday.
