Some parts of Entebbe municipality and Katabi town council continue to face power blackout and fluctuations following a heavy downpour which rained on Thursday last week. The heavy rain which was accompanied by strong winds, destroyed several property among which include electricity poles and installations.
Not spared, were some schools, Entebbe police quarters, ministry of agriculture buildings, roadside billboards, trees and plantations among others. The schools affected include, Nkumba primary school, Chadwick Namate primary school among others.
Moses Peter Mungeni, the Kampala-South Umeme engineer said, the repair and installation process is ongoing to ensure that power is fully back in all the affected areas. “But we have to first ensure that people are safe, that is why some areas have remained without electricity,” noted Eng. Mungeni.
There was no person reported to have been injured during the heady downpour, as confirmed by Hajji Noor Njuki, the Entebbe Resident District Commissioner.
