Pictorial: Uganda celebrates World Wildlife Day in Entebbe

Hundreds of people joined the rest of the World to commemorate World Wildlife Day 2026 in Entebbe, Wakiso District.

Themed “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Heritage, Health and Livelihoods” the Ministry of Tourism celebrates valued partnerships, teamwork, collaborations with MDAs, the Private Sector, NGOs, Foreign missions, conservationists, academia, communities and media who have all been instrumental in enhancing conservation and heritage efforts.

The celebrations were held at Entebbe Works Ground highlighting Uganda’s rich biodiversity goes beyond iconic wildlife including forests and ecosystems which are home to invaluable plant species that support healthcare, preserve cultural heritage, and sustain community livelihoods.

As part of the celebrations, the public was given a chance to visit both the Entebbe Botanical Gardens and Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) at a free of charge for the whole day.
