The contest for the National Unity Platform (NUP) parliamentary ticket in Entebbe Municipality is intensifying, with aspiring legislator Stuart Lubwama formally submitting his nomination forms.
He expresses strong optimism about securing the party’s endorsement, setting his sights on unseating incumbent Michael Kakembo, who recently crossed to the newly formed Democratic Front.
Lubwama, a vocal advocate for the residents of Entebbe, argues that the municipality is in urgent need of robust parliamentary representation.

“Entebbe deserves a powerful, dedicated voice in Parliament, one that truly represents the aspirations and challenges of its people,” Lubwama stated, underlining his commitment to the constituency. “My vision is clear: to ensure our community thrives and that every citizen has the opportunity to prosper.”
His campaign platform is anchored on several key areas designed to address pressing issues within Entebbe. A central tenet of his agenda is youth and women empowerment, which he views as fundamental to sustainable development. “Our youth and women are the backbone of our society. We must create avenues for their education, skills development, and economic independence,” he explained.

Environmental protection also features prominently in Lubwama’s priorities, acknowledging Entebbe’s unique lakeside geography.
“The beauty and ecological balance of Entebbe are precious. We must implement robust measures to protect our environment, particularly Lake Victoria, for future generations,” he asserted.
Beyond these, Lubwama is resolute in establishing efficient working systems for service delivery, aiming to ensure public services are accessible, accountable, and effective for residents. This includes a sharp focus on revitalising the education sector, which he identifies as a cornerstone of progress.

“Quality education is not a privilege; it’s a right. We need to invest in our schools and provide our children with the best possible learning environment,” Lubwama said.
He has also pledged to confront the pervasive issue of land grabbing that has affected numerous communities, vowing to work towards restoring justice and securing land tenure for owners.
Additionally, he aims to restore order on Lake Victoria, ensuring that local communities can safely and sustainably derive their livelihoods from the vital water body.
“The lake is a source of livelihood for so many in Entebbe. We must protect it from illegal activities and ensure fair access for our local fishermen and traders,” he added.

Lubwama faces competition for the NUP ticket from fellow aspirants, including Robert Masaazi, Lillian Babirye, and Joyce Nabatta. As the NUP leadership deliberates on its flag bearer, all attention will be on Entebbe to see who the party believes is best positioned to reclaim the parliamentary seat for the opposition.
Lubwama, however, remains confident that his dedication, clear vision, and focus on fundamental community needs will resonate with the party hierarchy and the people of Entebbe.
