The Luweero territorial Police along the Kampala-Gulu Highway kicked off inquiries into circumstances surrounding an accident which claimed nine lives and injured other five.
Faridah Nampiima the spokesperson for Traffic And Road Safety confirmed that on July 9th 2022 at around 2:10pm a Toyota Hiace registration number UBD 805J speeding from Kampala to Gulu was sloping to Sinalya valley when it burst its rear tyre, lost control and overturned before colliding with an oncoming Isuzu Elf registration number UAH 316P which also overturned.
Seven female adults and one male of the passengers in the Toyota Hiace died on spot and another female died while being rushed to Mulago hospital.
The deceased bodies were conveyed to Mulago City mortuary pending postmortem.
