KCCA FC head coach has attributed the team’s Stanbic Uganda Cup exit to failure of forwards to deliver.
The Kasasiro Boys bowed out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 by Soltilo Bright Stars in the game played at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday evening.
Marvin Youngman scored for Soltilo Bright Stars in the 10th minute but KCCA FC was unable to equalise.
After the game, Byekwaso said that the Lugogo based side were knocked out of the tournament because his forwards failed to score.
“We did all we could but our problem remains scoring,” Byekwaso said before adding.
“If our forwards do not pull up their socks, we will get more problems because even winning the last game it was the full-backs that helped us.”
“But this time around Bright Stars read the game well and they did not allow them to bombard forward and offer support to the attackers.”
“We now need to go back to the drawing board and make sure we wake up our forwards because they are vital and when they perform, they make our job easy,” he added.
Byekwaso who had targets of winning a double this season, has now turned his attention to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League because it’s the only hope of silverware they are remaining with this season.
“KCCA is a big team and we wanted to win all trophies because we have the ability to achieve that.”
“We still have the league to win so we must make sure we concentrate hard because we have tough games in the upcoming month.”
“We have to work hard to try and win those games because if we continue losing, our chances of winning the league will become slim,” he further added.
KCCA’s fight to win win the league will resume next Thursday when they visit Express FC at Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wankuluku.
