Burkina Faso is more than determined to register victory when take on Ethiopia in group A matchday three at the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam on Monday as they target knockout stage.
The Stallions edged 1-0 past Cape Verde to revive their chances following an opening match 2-1 defeat to hosts Cameroon.
With three points, Burkina Faso knows another win means they will go through.
A draw might do it, but they would have to wait the result of the simultaneous game between hosts Cameroon and Cape Verde.
According to Burkina Faso head coach Kamu Malo, Monday’s game is very important to them and they aim for three points.
“Our game against Ethiopia is extremely important to us to achieve our mission of qualifying for the second round,” Malo said.
“We are happy players like Bertrand Traore are back in the team. As coach that gives me many options.”
“We are determined to win, but that doesn’t mean we can underrate Ethiopia. I have told my players the game should be treated like a do or die if we want to qualify,” he added.
Ethiopia enter this game without a point after losing their two opening games against Cape Verde and Cameroon respectively.
They play Monday’s game for a win and wait to see if they can manage a place between the best four placed teams.
Elsewhere in group A, Cape Verde will hold their hope of reaching the next round when they face hosts Cameroon.
The Indomitable Lions are seeking to end the group on maximum points to confirm their good run and their favorites status.
