The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has launched the “City to Safari” initiative at Entebbe International Airport to boost domestic aviation, tourism, and trade by improving connectivity and reducing travel time to Uganda’s top attractions, making it easier for both local and international travellers to explore the country.
Speaking at the launch, the UCAA’s deputy Director General, Olive B. Lumonya emphasised the need of collaboration and partnership for the success of the initiative.
“The success of the ‘City to Safari’ initiative can not be achieved by one institution alone. It requires collaboration, partnership, and shared commitment from all stakeholders to meet the desired goals,” she said.
Lumonya further noted that with strong support from government ministries, aviation stakeholders, and the private sector, the focus now shifts to implementation.
During the same engagement, Juliana Kagwa, the Uganda Tourism Board CEO remarked that the conversation was timely and that the initiative needs to be moved to execution and implementation.
The launch was attended by key stakeholders from the Ministry of Works and Transport, Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, domestic airline operators, fuel suppliers, Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Investment Authority, Free Zones Authority, Uganda Chamber of Commerce, private sector, tour and travel operators and UCAA management team, among others.
