The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority’s basketball team merged first during a gala held at the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) Basketball Court in Entebbe on Saturday, November 29th, 2025.
Finishing as the top team at the end of the day’s games, UCAA basketball team won Riders legal basketball team with 34 – 31 points.
Jinja Kalooli basketball team came in third after a 31 – 28 win over Archiers basketball team.
Other teams that took part in this year’s edition include; African Renewal University basketball team, and Survey Training Institute basketball team among others.

Presiding over the occasion was the Manager of Public Affairs at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), Vianney Luggya, who applauded the spirit of competition and togetherness among the participants.
He also highlighted that there are a series of other activities, including golf sponsored events that will run from 6th to 7th December in Kampala, and the netball event on 6th December at the fresh handling basketball pitch.
“But besides these events, we also have a football team that is strong and participates actively in the corporate leagues every year, alongside other sports like swimming among others. That shows how much attention we pay to sports, because we know that sports people are frequent flyers and users of our facilities at the International Airport,” he added.
As these sports are not only played in Uganda, but they also compete regionally and internationally in other global competitions, Luggya, in conclusion, noted that as a way of giving back to the community, they participate and sponsor a number of sporting events.
According to Amin Nsimbe, the UCAA’s Manager Internal Audit and Risk Management, the main objective of this basketball gala was about health, wellness, a call from the director general’s office, and also the togetherness between all the organisations participating in the gala, plus the social and other teamwork for Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.

The other Aviation Week activity will be a stakeholders engagement breakfast schedule for 16th December, 2025 in Kampala, at which will be convened with the number of stakeholders to celebrate in memory of this day that was started with the signing of the Chicago convention in 1944 which marked the establishment of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the body that oversees global aviation operations across the globe.
The Week was first celebrated in 1994 at the 50th anniversary of the Chicago convention and since then, ICAO has urged member states to engage in a number of visible activities that help them to celebrate the milestones attained in the aviation industry over the years through various events, including sports promotion activities, among others.
