The Name and Save a Rhino Ceremony has kicked off at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola District.

This historic event aims to raise $11 million for rhino conservation through a unique campaign where individuals, corporates, and philanthropists can symbolically adopt and name a rhino.

The event marks a significant milestone in Uganda’s rhino conservation journey, transforming from a past of near extinction to a present of successful breeding and population growth.

The ceremony isn’t just about giving names, but it’s about celebrating hope. The 48 rhinos in Uganda, including 17 calves, which will receive their official names today, prove conservation works.

By naming a rhino, participants gain the opportunity to create a lasting legacy in conservation, directly contributing to the protection of these magnificent animals and shaping Uganda’s wildlife future.

Rhinos are vital to ecosystems, balancing forests and grasslands while helping other species thrive. They’re among the world’s most endangered animals due to habitat loss and poaching.
