UCAA engages stakeholders on Uganda aviation status

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) hosted the Aviation Week Stakeholders’ Engagement Breakfast at the Imperial Royale Hotel on Tuesday, 16th December, bringing together leaders from government, air operators, tour and travel companies, aviation fuel suppliers, Entebbe Municipality, PRAU Uganda, industry partners, development agencies, and the media among others to reflect on the sector’s performance, priorities and future plans.

The engagement highlighted UCAA’s key milestones in 2025, Uganda’s election to the ICAO Council for the 2025–2028 term, major infrastructure and strategic developments including the new Passenger Terminal Building at Entebbe International Airport, Kabalega International Airport, and ongoing plans for several upcountry aerodromes, while underscoring the importance of collaboration in advancing safe, secure, efficient, and sustainable aviation growth.

In his remarks, the Director General of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Fred Bamwesigye, asked all stakeholders, including the media, to work together in supporting the growth and credibility of the aviation industry.

In addition he noted that the authority plans to establish its own aviation training school to build local capacity and advance the sector.

“Aviation is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders, including the media, to communicate accurately and appropriately,” the UCAA’s Director General said.

He further expressed the authority’s commitment of continued collaboration, investment in infrastructure and adoption of modern technologies that will be key to sustaining growth while ensuring safety and security across Uganda’s aviation industry.

UCAA appreciated the valuable participation and insights shared by stakeholders for continued improvement.
