The 5th edition of the Basamulekkere – Sekigozi Boda Boda Tournament 2025 climaxed on Sunday 29th June, 2025 with Transformer Boda Stage FC winning the tournament after a win over Bugiri – Bukasa Boda stage FC.
Transformer Boda Stage FC beat Bugiri-Bukasa Boda Stage FC 13-12 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in normal play. Both teams received brand new bikes – Bajaj boxer among other prizes.

The Champions received a brand new Bajaj boxer, a trophy, gold medals, a set of jerseys, a ball, a certificate, plus shs. 750,000/- while their competitor, Bugiri-Bukasa Boda Stage FC, got a brand new bike, silver medals, a set of jerseys, a ball, a certificate and shs. 250,000/-.
In the third-place playoff, Kitala Prison Boda Stage FC edged Bwerenga 3-2 in a tightly contested match to secure a bull, a set of jerseys, a ball, plus a certificate.
Bwerenga Boda Stage FC went away with a goat, a set of jerseys, a ball and a certificate.

The tournament was fully sponsored by Ronald Kalema, also known as Basamulekkere, the Katabi Town Council chairperson and Stephen Sekigozi, the aspirant MP of Busiro South Constituency, and all teams that participated in this year’s edition received a set of jerseys and a ball in addition to the certificates, respectively.
The NUP’s deputy spokesperson, Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, applauded the sponsors for organising such an amazing tournament.
“As National Unity Platform, we go beyond politics by empowering the youth in various sectors, including arts and sports; therefore, Hon Ssekigozi Stephen and Mayor Ronald Kalema, you have done a great job responding to the party’s values,” he said.
Before the football match, there was a bicycle cycling race and the winner was awarded a new modern bicycle. Kabale Boda Stage FC won in Ludo, hence moving away with shs. 500,000/-.

Ali Bukeni also known as Nubian Li emphasised the importance of sports, saying, “Footballers like Christiano Ronaldo have gained alot of wealth through football, in such tournaments a player can be sported therefore we thank the organising committee together with our sponsors for this initiative.”

Speaking after the match, Ronald Kalema, the Katabi Town Council chairperson encouraged the youth to take part in sports and steer clear of negative habits such as drug abuse and idleness.
He also pledged to continue organizing such tournaments that move beyond just playing football, saying, “It’s not just football but a vessel of unity, and discipline.”
Stephen Sekigozi aspirant MP of Busiro South Constituency congratulated Transformer Boda Stage FC on their victory and applaud all the teams that participated in this year’s edition.
“I decided to join Mayor Kalema’s idea and dream of recognising the important people in the field of transportation as well as uniting them and the community at large,” he added.

The most valuable player (MVP) was given to Adam Matovu, best goal keeper of the tournament award was given to John Kamulegeya of Transformer Boda Stage FC, top scorer to Johnson Elungat, best defender to Denis Mwesigwa, and the best disciplined player to Charles Ssemanda among others.
