Soltilo Bright Stars FC is interested in the services of Felix Okot ‘Keita’ as they prepare for the forthcoming season set to kick off at the end of September.
Okot is a free agent after his six-month employment contract with Maroons Football Club ran out.
Okot joined the Prison’s side in 2016 where he spent five years before being loaned to Kyetume Football Club in 2022 after a stint of five solid years.
While at Kyetume he put up a great show that forced the Maroons to call him back and bolster the team as they searched for their way back into the Uganda Premier League.
Before the second leg, Okot found Maroons in the fourth position but managed to help the Luzira-based side regain their spot in the top tier.
This has greatly attracted Bright Stars who have allegedly lost their midfield kingpin Marvin Joseph Youngman to Vipers SC.
Okot is a defensive midfielder who can also be played as a number eight of the team. He is energetic, good at takling and passing.
A source close to the player has told this website that UPDF and Kyetume have also expressed interest in the player, Maroon has also asked Okot to extend his stay but he is still weighing options.
But Bright Stars seems to be ahead of the other sides though talks are still on and we shall keep our eyes and ears open to see which team wins the race.
Reports from Kavumba grounds indicate that Bright Stars are set to unveil former Maroons, Onduparaka and Nyamityobora’s gaffer Asaph Mwebaze as head coach to replace Paul Kiwanuka.
Bright Stars finished 11th on a 16-teamed log in the 2021/22 and they will have a lot to do next season if they are to improve their show and improving the squad can be the first step.
