Vipers SC have qualified to the semifinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after winning 3-1 against Wakiso Giants during the quarterfinal encounter played on Sunday evening.
Yunus Sentamu scored twice while Bobosi Byaruhanga scored the other goal while Sam Ssenyonjo scored Wakiso’s another goal.
Sentamu had the first shot on goal in the fifth minute but goalkeeper Emukule comfortably collected the ball.
In the 15th minute, Byaruhanga got on the end of the ball in and directed it in search for Cesar Manzoki but again it was well collected by Emukule.
Byaruhanga finally put Vipers in the driving seat in the 21st minute of the game when he beat his marker and strike following a through ball from Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye.
Tumwesigye had a chance to double Vipers’ lead in the 40th minute of the game but he missed a seater.
Sentamu doubled Vipers’ lead in the 50th minute with a superb goal following an assist from Milton Karisa.
Karisa got a head to a Frank Zaga Tumwesigye’s long cross but the ball was well called by goalkeeper Emukule.
Karisa came closer again in the 6th minute, beat his marker, rounded off the goalkeeper Emukule and directed the ball into the net but it was cleared off the line.
Sentamu made it 3-0 for Vipers SC in the 81st minute. Byaruhanga had a brilliant assist for Sentamu who finished another great Venoms move.
Sam Ssenyonjo pulled one back for Wakiso Giants as he striked in the 85th minute of the game.
Vipers aims at defending the title they won last season.
