Stanbic National Schools Championship Scoops Double Awards

Stanbic National Schools Championship (Battle of the Champions) won awards for Best Non for Profit/ Social Good Campaign and Best Use of Sustainability during a high-profile gala event recently organised by Evolve Africa at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The “Battle of Champions,” marked a decade of the Stanbic National Schools Championship, a flagship youth innovation program by Stanbic Bank Uganda that has become a cornerstone of the country’s drive to embed entrepreneurship, creativity, and problem-solving into the education system.

The Uganda Marketing and Excellence Awards (UMEAS) 5th Edition saw different companies and brands exhibit marketing success and showcase the quality of their business, while celebrating the edition’s underpinning theme: ‘Promoting sustainable marketing excellence.’

On behalf of the bank, Diana Kahunde, the acting Head of Brand and Marketing expressed gratitude for the recognition. She reaffirmed the bank’s unwavering commitment to delivering unparalleled services and fostering innovation in the banking industry.

“At Stanbic Bank, we bask in the glory of this well-deserved award. The institution remains steadfast in living its purpose. Uganda is our home, we drive her growth, and remain committed to continue raising the bar for exceptional campaigns and innovations in the financial sector,” Kahunde expressed.

In his remarks, Martin Mukama, the head of partnerships and alliances at Evolve Africa noted that the winners were selected by a distinguished six-member Marketing Council that consisted of renowned competent industry experts. “Judging was based on leadership, contribution towards the profession, experience and academic qualifications,” he explained.

According to Kahunde, the six-member marketing council determined all nominations, and held 60% stake on all public vote categories, while the public had 40% of the final decision towards the consideration for seven (7), of the thirteen (13) awards categories.

“The council oversaw both the nomination process, and the entire award winner selection. This year the focus was centered on Sustainability, as campaigns and projects assessed made good use of resources that were entrusted to marketers, and whether they made a return on investment sustainably,” Kahunde added.

The Uganda Marketing and Excellence Awards were first inspired by the extraordinary marketing campaigns that Brands and their custodians crafted during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The National Schools Championship is part of Stanbic Bank’s Corporate Social Investment Programme and is aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among young people in secondary and vocational schools in Uganda through comprehensive mentorship and training programs.
