Practice Match: Crested Cranes puts five past Zambia

Crested Cranes continue to enjoy an impressive run after registering a 5-0 victory against Zambia in a trial game at Grande Stade de Marrakech Annex 1.

The trial game was meant to sharpen the players ahead of the Women African Cup of Nations that will be held in Morocco starting on July 2 until July 23.

Zambia skipper Grace Chanda wasted a glorious chance to put her said ahead after being setup by defender Margaret Belemu.

Shamirah Nalugya found herself in the right place but her powerful effort went above the frame before Zambia’s injured Lushomo Mweemba was stretched off the field of play to be replaced by Esther Banda.

The moment of joy came seven minutes past half an hour mark, Rita Kivumbi put Uganda in the lead before Fauzia Najjemba extended the lead two minutes later.

Three minutes to the end of the first stanza, Viola Nambi opened her account to take the break on the high.

Seven minutes into the second stanza, Nambi registered a personal brace.

George Lutalo introduced Fazila Imwaput and Phionah Nabbumba for Najjemba and Nassuna to increase the energy upfront.

With only five minutes spent on the field of play, the goal poacher Ikwaput made it five to hit the last nail in Zambia’s coffin.

Ten minutes left on the clock, Sandra Nabweteme and Sheeba Zalwago replaced Kivumbi and Nalugya respectively.

Uganda will kickstart their journey of WAFCON against Senegal on Sunday July 3, 2022.

Uganda are in group A alongside Morocco, Burkina Faso and Senegal while Zambia are in group B with Cameroon, Tunisia and Togo.
