The Uganda Cranes will take on the winner between Somalia and Tanzania for the qualifying round for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship(CHAN) 2022 edition to be held in Algeria.
Uganda’s path to the CHAN finals was revealed by a draw held on Thursday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt.
In the draw Uganda earned a bye at the first round setting it up for a match against the winner between Somalia and Tanzania at the next round.
Somalia will take on Tanzania in July, and the winner will play Uganda in August. The winner on aggregate will advance to the final tournament.
The Cranes will be looking to qualify for the sixth time for the competition which exclusively features players from the respective national championships.
Uganda has been present at five CHAN finals.(for the winner between Somalia and Tanzania at the next round.)
