Building Review Board launches digital system in Entebbe

The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Works and Transport enacted the Building Control Act, 2013 in a bid to “Consolidate, harmonize, to promote and ensure planned decent and safe building structures that are developed in establish of a National Building Review Board (NBRB) and Building Committees; amend the law relating to erection of building, to provide for building standards; to harmony with the environment and for other related matters”.

The National Building Review Board (NBRB) was established to monitor all building committees for approval of plans, issue building permits and occupation permits and hear as long as determining appeals from persons dissatisfied with the decisions of the Building developments, determine the fees to be charged by the urban and district building committee, among others.

Following other cities and districts like Masaka, Jinja, Mukono, Fortportal among others, Entebbe adopted the Building industry management system and it’s operations begun on Thursday 8th July 2022 being launched by the Entebbe municipal deputy mayor Charles Kabwama, NBRB officials among other municipal technicalities.

While launching this system, Charles Kabwama the Entebbe municipal deputy mayor revealed that the system is a blessing to the community since it’s main factor is to improve on building standards and having a well developed and planned area.

According to Hudson Mutalya the standards officer – NBRB, the system was adopted to improve and regulate the building standards and as long as improving on the revenue when it comes to building permit fees, occupation fees, inspection permit fees among others.

Mutalya also revealed that through the Building Industry Management System (BIMS), they will be able to improve and overcome the challenges that arise from poor building standards.

Dan Fred Lutaaya the Entebbe Division B town clerk appealed to the public to honour and use this chance to submit their plans and get approved online as long as saving time, movements and resources.
