AFCON 2021: ‘We are ready for any team in the final’ – Cisse

Senegal national team head coach Aliou Cisse stressed his team’s readiness to face Egypt or Cameroon in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final. 

Senegal beat Burkina Faso in the semi-finals with a 3-1 victory to secure a spot in the final for the second time in a row. 

After the match, Aliou Cisse said that his team is ready for any opponent in the forthcoming final.

“A very difficult match. I would like to congratulate Burkina Faso team, which has caused us so many problems,” he said.

“We know it will be a very difficult final,” he added.

“At the moment, it is a bit difficult to express your feelings. But I am very satisfied.”

“I congratulate my players because we have come a long way. They had the right mentality. I can assure you that the best quality of a player in the national team is having the right mentality.” 

“We are satisfied, but it was not the final that got us here. What matters to us is winning the African Cup. Whether against Egypt or Cameroon, we will face a great African team and we will be ready,” he added.

Senegal will face either hosts Cameroon or Egypt who will meet in the second semi-final at Yaounde’s Olembe Stadium on Thursday.
