Security agencies stop attempted robbery at NMS warehouse in Entebbe

The National Medical Stores (NMS) confirmed that security agencies successfully foiled an attempted robbery at one of its rented warehouse facilities in Entebbe.

According to Sheilla Nduhukire, the NMS Principal Public Relations Officer, the incident was detected and stopped by NMS security teams working jointly with the Special Forces Command (SFC) and the Uganda Police Force (UPF) in the wee hours of Sunday night.

She assured Ugandans that there were no supplies that were lost or stolen because the thieves were intercepted on site, and therefore appreciated the security agencies for the great work done.

“We would like to thank our security teams as National Medical Stores and our contractor who worked with the security agencies to ensure that this plot was foiled, and indeed it was foiled on the type of supplies that were attempted to be stolen,” she said.

Nduhukire further highlighted that among the items that were recovered are 78 boxes of disposable gloves and 19 boxes of oxygen regulators worth UGX 100 million, adding, “Those items have been moved to the police for further investigation.”

During the incident, two suspects sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment, while one other suspect was arrested and remained in custody together with one vehicle (Toyota Hiace) that consisted of two different number plates that seemed to be fake reading UBB 677Q (front) – UBD 677Q (back) and a TVS motorcycle under the registration details of UFY 086A.

Dr Warren Naamara, the Director of the State House Health Monitoring Unit, said that it seemed to be a planned event and also assured the public to pursue the criminal investigation further.

“We will really go deep, and all people who will be connected to this incident will be presented to the courts of law and receive the maximum punishment,” he noted.
